Focusrite ISA 828 MkII 8-Channel ISA Microphone Preamp
The Focusrite ISA 828 MK2 brings eight classic Focusrite microphone preamps into a rackmount format built for professional recording environments. Based on the mic preamp design of the original ISA 110 module from the Focusrite Studio Console, each channel uses a Lundahl LL1538 input transformer. Every channel supports mic or line input, while channels 1 through 4 also provide front panel instrument inputs for direct connection of instruments.
Flexible Gain and Input Impedance
Each microphone preamp provides switchable input impedance for subtle tonal choices with different microphones, including an ISA 110 setting that recreates the impedance of the original Focusrite mic preamp. Up to 60 dB of gain is available, along with an additional 20 dB of continuously variable trim for a total gain range of up to 80 dB. The first four instrument inputs also provide High 2.4 MΩ and Low 470 kΩ impedance options.
Signal Control and Monitoring
A fixed 75 Hz high pass filter with an 18 dB per octave roll off helps reduce rumble, stand borne noise, and other unwanted low frequency sound. Each channel also features a calibratable six segment LED peak level meter. Switchable rear panel insert points allow compatible signal processors such as compressors and equalizers to be integrated into the recording path.
Rack Integration and Digital Expansion
Dedicated mic and line input connectors allow multiple sources to remain connected at the same time, supporting permanent rack installations and streamlined studio routing. A switching power supply provides efficient, cooler operation. For digital expansion, the optional ISA ADN8 analog to digital card adds eight Dante, ADAT, and AES3 outputs with sampling rates up to 24 bit, 192 kHz.
