The Universal Audio Volt 2 Gen 2 gives home producers, singer songwriters, podcasters, and small creative setups two recording channels with enough flexibility for vocals, guitars, stereo instruments, and two person sessions. Two digitally controlled preamps provide 60 dB of gain, while 32 bit conversion at sample rates up to 192 kHz captures detailed recordings. Two rear microphone and line inputs pair with two front instrument inputs, so the interface can handle microphones, keyboards, guitars, basses, and other common home studio sources without adding unnecessary complexity.
Shape the Sound Before You Record
Each channel offers Warmth, Focus, and Shine Tone Shaping modes. Warmth adds smoother, tube inspired body. Focus emphasizes punch and clarity. Shine opens the upper range with a more airy character. You can also leave Tone Shaping off for a clean signal. Because both channels have independent settings, you can give a vocal one character and an instrument another during the same take.
Spend Less Time Watching Levels
The full color Smart Display shows input levels, output levels, gain, and selected settings. Assistive Auto Gain listens while you sing or play for 10 seconds, then sets the preamp level automatically. Clip Protection is enabled by default and uses gain staging with software limiting to help prevent unexpectedly loud input peaks from clipping a recording. Direct monitoring lets you hear live inputs with Tone Shaping directly through the headphones or monitors without waiting for audio to pass through recording software.
Loopback supports podcasts, livestreams, and other content that combines live input with computer playback. Stereo channel linking simplifies paired microphone or stereo instrument recording, while independent 48 V phantom power lets each microphone channel be configured separately. Volt 2 Gen 2 runs from USB bus power with compatible systems and works with Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone.
