The Universal Audio Volt 4 Gen 2 is built for home and project studios that have outgrown a basic two channel interface but do not need a large rack system. It provides two digitally controlled microphone preamps with 60 dB of gain, two additional line inputs for synths and outboard gear, six outputs, and professional 32 bit conversion at sample rates up to 192 kHz. That gives producers room to record vocals and instruments while keeping more studio hardware connected and ready to use.
Shape the Sound Before Recording
Each microphone preamp includes three Tone Shaping modes. Warmth adds body inspired by classic tube preamp character. Focus adds a tighter, more forward solid state character. Shine adds an open top end inspired by British Class A circuitry. Because the character is applied at the source, users can make a tonal choice before the signal reaches the recording software instead of relying on a plug in later.
More Connections for a Growing Studio
Two extra line inputs make it easier to leave stereo keyboards, synths, or other line level equipment connected alongside the two microphone channels. ADAT optical input adds up to eight more channels at 44.1 or 48 kHz, while optical S/PDIF supports two channel digital sources. MIDI input and output connect compatible keyboards, controllers, and synths, and the onboard USB hub can connect compatible peripherals without using another computer port.
The full color Smart Display keeps levels and settings visible from the hardware. Auto Gain sets recording levels in seconds, while Clip Protection helps catch unexpected peaks before they ruin a take. Built in loopback supports podcasts, livestreams, and content creation, and USB bus power keeps the interface practical for desktop or mobile work with compatible Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone systems.
