The Universal Audio Volt 4 Max is built for home and project studios that want more control without moving to a large rack system. It combines two digitally controlled microphone preamps with two additional line inputs, six outputs, and 32 bit conversion at sample rates up to 192 kHz. That makes it practical for recording vocals and instruments while keeping synths, outboard gear, two monitor pairs, and other studio equipment connected.
Shape and Control the Sound Before Recording
Each microphone preamp provides 60 dB of gain plus Warmth, Focus, and Shine Tone Shaping modes. Max Processing adds 6 realtime compression presets designed for vocals, guitars, and bass. Pairing the three Tone choices with the Max presets creates more than 18 available character combinations, helping users choose a useful recording sound before building a software processing chain.
Built to Handle the rest of the Studio
Two additional line inputs support stereo synths and other line level equipment, while Main and Alt monitor outputs let users switch between two speaker pairs directly from the interface. Two headphone outputs share one cue mix, and the built in talkback microphone makes it easier to communicate with another performer during a session.
ADAT optical input can add up to eight channels at 44.1 or 48 kHz, while optical S/PDIF supports two channel digital input. MIDI input and output connect compatible keyboards and controllers, and the onboard USB hub can power a compatible MIDI controller. The full color Smart Display shows levels, settings, and compression gain reduction, while Auto Gain and Clip Protection simplify level setting and help protect takes from unexpected peaks.
