The Yamaha EAD20 brings acoustic drum capture, trigger sounds, effects, recording, and monitoring into one drummer focused module. Its dedicated Sensor Unit mounts to the bass drum hoop and combines a stereo condenser microphone with a bass drum trigger, letting the system capture the kit while adding an electronic trigger source. This compact approach reduces the need to surround the kit with multiple microphones for everyday practice, recording, teaching, and live workflows.
Shape the Kit in Real Time
The EAD20 uses the SWX100 sound engine and provides 2,203 voices, 256 note maximum polyphony, extensive mic and trigger processing, and 3 Modifier knobs with 40 assignable functions. Reverb, effects, compression, EQ, and trigger parameters can be adjusted from the module, while 51 preset Scenes and 200 user Scenes make it easy to recall complete setups. User sampling, a looper, and playback functions support acoustic and electronic combinations from a single control point.
Build a Hybrid Drum Setup
Connect up to 9 pads or triggers when using a Y cable, with dedicated trigger inputs for kick, snare, and additional zones. USB audio supports 8 inputs and 10 outputs at 24 bit, 44.1 kHz in asynchronous mode, while a separate 2 input and 2 output mode supports 44.1, 48, and 96 kHz. Main stereo outputs, Aux In, two headphone connections, a foot switch input, and USB connections help integrate the module with computers, mixers, portable devices, and performance systems.
Record, Practice, and Create
Record stereo WAV files to internal memory or external USB storage, use the built in click, looper, and sampling tools, or route audio to a DAW. Yamaha EAD Editor provides control over routing, Scenes, effects, mic EQ, and other parameters from a connected phone, tablet, or Mac via USB. Rec'n'Share supports practice and video workflows with imported tracks, tempo adjustment, looped sections, and EAD20 audio captured with a mobile device camera. The EAD20 supports rehearsal rooms, lessons, content creation, recording, and stage use.
