The Yamaha RAS-1455 Recording Custom snare drum combines an aluminum shell with carefully selected hardware for crisp articulation, controlled response, and a clear dynamic voice. Its 14-inch diameter and 5.5-inch depth provide a versatile profile for recording sessions, rehearsals, and live performance. The shell responds quickly to light strokes while retaining definition during louder passages.
Responsive Aluminum Shell
A 1.2 mm aluminum shell gives the RAS-1455 a focused character with fast attack and controlled sustain. Yamaha places the center bead on the exterior of the shell, creating a more open response than its conventional inward bead construction. This design helps the drum retain clarity during detailed patterns, ghost notes, and accented backbeats.
Two Snare Wire Configurations
The drum arrives with a 20-strand snare wire fitted for a balanced combination of sensitivity and body. Yamaha also supplies an SG type 10-strand wire. This alternate configuration uses a reduced center section to encourage a crisper cutoff and tighter staccato response. Players can select the wire that better suits the session, arrangement, or playing style.
Purpose-Built Recording Custom Hardware
Newly designed one-piece lugs and 3.0 mm aluminum die-cast hoops support stable tuning and focused rim response. A Q-type release strainer, DC3 type butt plate, 2.4 mm snare bed, and 45 degree bearing edge complete the shell design. REMO Coated Ambassador and Snare Ambassador heads provide a familiar playing surface and a practical starting point for studio or stage use.

Returns are incredibly simple. Please log into your account, find your item you wish to return and follow the prompts to make a return. If you do not have an account, click here to find your order and make a return.

You will receive a full refund when you return an item in its original manufacturer’s packaging, undamaged and unmarked. If the item you are returning is priced at less than $35, you will be charged a 15% restocking fee. Please note you will not be refunded any shipping charges.

If your order has been noticeably damaged in transit, we strongly recommend that you refuse delivery and notify us immediately. Claims for missing items or items damaged in transit must be made within 48 hours of delivery.
